Junior Staff
Junior Staff make camp work. You bring with you a love for camp, a deep knowledge of camp traditions, and a willingness to keep learning, growing, and progressing through our STEPS program.
Roles
Junior Counselor 1
Junior Counselors 1 (JC1) are first year junior staff members on the first STEP of the Junior Staff ladder. You will help run evening activities, assist in your assigned department, help out in your assigned bunk, and accompany your bunk on its overnight trip. JC1s live in a separate bunk with your fellow JC1s.
You are eligible to apply to be a JC1 if you have completed either Leadership or Bunk 11 at Camp Walden.
Junior Counselor 2
Junior Counselors 2 (JC2) are second year junior staff members on the second STEP of the Junior Staff ladder. You will run evening activities, assist in your assigned department, support the counselors in your assigned bunk, and accompany your bunk on its overnight trip. JC2s live in a bunk with campers.
You are eligible to apply to be a JC2 if you have been a JC1 or completed “Bunk 13” at Camp Walden.
Counselor Assistants
Counselor Assistants (CA), are third year junior staff members on the third STEP on the Junior Staff ladder. You will help make the yearbook, take a leadership role in your assigned department, support the counselors in your bunk, and accompany your bunk on its overnight trip. CAs live in a bunk with campers.
You are eligible to apply to be a CA if you have been a JC2 or completed “Bunk 14” at Camp Walden.
